He He David dull never "im might be dull"? sentence structure and all that. "I promise that i shall do my best to do my duty to literature to serve the queen and help other people to keep the literature law." You are quite right though i should check better, and my writing skills are not as good as they used to be. Never mind.. I do get a little frustrated at myself when i make silly mistakes, so i get it.

I'm might be dull, and have missed a subtle joke in the spelling "Higgs bosun". However, (as with Dr Pedanticus) I have a horror at the mispronuciation of "Higgs Boson" by many on the radio and television. The word is pronounced BOW (to rhyme with TOE) ZON (to rhyme with GONE), c.f. electron, proton, fermion etc. (A boson is a subatomic particle with spin of zero, one, two etc.) A Bo'sun (aka Boatswain) is a nautical role.
Sorry. I just had to get that weight off my chest.

The Higgs Bosun goes into a Roman Catholic church an the priest says 'sorry we dont want you here'. So the Higgs Bosun says 'well how are you going to have mass then?' |

It was an interesting story, and when you put that story alongside the Higgs God Particle, we begin to see the unravelling of our world, both scientifically and relationally. This is interesting to me on these grounds, we live in a world of constant uncertainty on all kinds of levels, both practically and relationally, in the past we have seen science and theology at odds with one another believing they are incompatible.I have always believed that they areindeed compatible. The fact that someone says he can prove he is a direct descendant does not in my opinion deflect from the origen of human kind. For i understand God as Father, i have no problem with seeing that the origen of Humanity may have been male, i also have no problem in believing that women originated from within the physical body of a male, when we see what happens medically nowadays it seems possible to me. The bit which i find most interesting if you like is "the beginning of relationship and communication" it is in this that i believe God is the greater creator indeed the original creator, but also it is with this that we can see the compatibility of science and the creation of humanity. I am so glad that the man who first suggeted that the particle was there has been proved right, and in my heart of hearts i believe one day that in the revelation we will see that our belief in a god the creator, will be justified; and just like we see with scientific study and discovery we will also continue to see Gods Plan unravel.
Thankyou for picking up on it Dave for although i talk in a lighthearted way about things, it is actually very important, it is our purpose, not only to discover the truth but also to preserve the truth. That is why we should take these things seriously. For it also throws light on the ethics of medical intervention in some circumstances. That however is another strand, but it stands to reason that if science and theology are closely interlinked, then understanding the gospel alongside science is vitally important.

Waterangel has drawn our attention to s recent story.Unfortunately it seems impossible to post to the thread. The story is in the Telegraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/9363268/Scottish-lecturer-found-to-be-grandfather-of-everyone-in-Britain.html The claim that the lecturer is directly descended from Eve seems to mean he has one unchanged genetic marker from central Africa. The claim he is "grandfather of everyone in Britain" is simply wrong. The suggestion that he has a gene that arrived through the slave trade is more plausable. I doubt that this test proves anything of general significance, although the report illustrates the current state of genetic understanding.

THE brutal murder of a soldier in Woolwich on Wednesday, in a suspected terrorist attack, has shocked and saddened people in the area, the Bishop of Woolwich, the Rt Revd Michael Ipgrave, has said.

Iran has launched a public crackdown on dissent before next month's presidential election, executing two men charged with espionage and waging war against God, arresting a group of activists, including Christians, and summoning campaigners for questioning. Political prisoners in some of the country's most notorious jails have had their parole or visiting rights withdrawn and some transferred to solitary confinement.

Thanks, Bowman. And does this - the pleasantness of compliance to God's order and commands - not apply not only to aspects of the law given to Israel, which we are not obliged to keep, but also to the traditions of the apostles, which we are instructed to hold on to, and pass on to the next g...
I quite like Bowman's point that there is potential danger in bringing the women bishops issue into Ephesians 5 (if I can put it like that), which is about marriage. If we want to know 'how we should conduct [ourselves] in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pilla...
Bowman, you say that the only distinguishing quality of the relationships: Christ:man, man:woman, God:Christ, and Christ:church, husband:wife (I have added one there), is coinherence. Surely, there is a hierarchy of authority visible here. Jesus submits to the Father, the church submits to the Lo...
