It’s not Science v. Religion, it’s Science and Religion March 18, 2015 by Fulcrum The context of the Church of England’s mission is complex – there is widespread spirituality, deep secularism, lively Christian and other faiths, all intertwined. Many people are disconnected from, or indifferent to, the Church as an institution and from the basic teachings of Christian faith. Part of this is the fact that religious faith of any variety is often viewed with suspicion and scepticism. Religious beliefs are seen as private, subjective opinions, which can often lead to a small minded, reactionary and divisive view of life. By contrast science is widely seen as giving ‘true’, objective and useful knowledge about the way the world really is. Bishop Richard Cheetham.
