Making the election about the poor, starts with recognising that displacement exist only because of human greed and unfortunately self importance and selfishness. However it is deeper than that it is about fear, and humiliation and an inability to cushion ourselves from continual knocks, it’s about abuse in all forms. In short it’s about humanity and what it is at its best and worse. The beatitudes teach us that alongside personal experience. It is difficult we are called to be self sacrificing but not always self suffering .Jesus died for that we are reminded at Easter The Church can and does help in home mission at home and Christian mission further afield. There are organised denominational missions and there are the personalised missions in many forms supplying at the point of need. It is the point of need that counts whether physical practical medical social or emotional. So the first port of call is always the most important open doors and ability to communicate is the next important, yet i notice that literacy is lagging behind for those who have barriers to learning, giving the false impression that people do not want to learn. It really does not matter what people want to learn in terms of life skill education is the 3 rs followed by the forth r Responsibility so developing conscience and care without barriers is another way of dealing with poverty or care and share however you want to phrase it. I sometimes despair over the timing of co ordination of human need which fails to put life in order. Peace has to be first a disorganised spirit is a disorganised emotion leads to missing the link. It’s all about minding the gap. I wish i had more about me i wanted to save the world but i recognise that you in your small corner and i in mine can achieve much. Peace be with you
