Paul Avis

Paul Avis served in parish ministry for many years in the Diocese of Exeter before becoming General Secretary of the Church of England's Council for Christian Unity (1998-2011). He has also served as Sub-Dean (2003-08) and Canon Theologian of Exeter (2008-13) and as Theological Consultant at the Anglican Communion Office (2011-12). Paul is currently a Chaplain to HM Queen Elizabeth II, visiting professor of theology at the University of Exeter and editor-in-chief of the journal Ecclesiology. He is the author of several books on ecclesiology and Anglicanism, the most recent being In Search of Authority: Anglican Theological Method from the Reformation to the Enlightenment (2014) and Becoming a Bishop: A Theological Handbook of Episcopal Ministry (2015).
