Canada (February 2015) that parts of the Criminal Code prohibiting medical assistance in dying (MAID) must change in order to satisfy the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. There are now several criteria to fulfill in order to qualify for MAID, among them that the individual must “be at least 18 years old and mentally competent.
