Yes, three visions of religious equity are clashing– an exclusive secularism (no expression of religion on the job), a defensive traditionalism (customary expression should be protected) and an inclusive pluralism (crosses or head coverings anywhere). Everyone knows this. But can one have one vision for sex and a different one for religion? And is it wiser to defend religious practice as custom amid secularism or as self-expression within pluralism?
